Mask of the Month: Neutrogena Hydro-boost week 2 review

Back at it again with the white face mask! This time I slept with it on! keep reading to see my results. This is such a fun mask! Such little effort but such good results!

The lowdown:

  • Price: $19.99 PricelineWoolworths, $15.99 at Chemist Warehouse, $22.00 Coles ($14.00 sale price). Pack contains 5 masks – approx $4.00 per mask.
  • Target/Aim: ‘… to provide long lasting moisture to help skin look hydrated, radiant and glowing’
  • Skin Type: Suited for Dry Skin but aimed at any skin that needs moisture.
  • Smell: The smell is somewhat like cherry medicine scent – like the rest of the Hydro Boost range. It doesn’t linger nor do I find it unpleasant.
  • Texture: Each is a stretchy cloth mask that feels slippery and like gel.
  • Colour: White and the gel is clear.
  • Directions: “To use, remove mask and unfold gently stretching the fabric cloth to cover your entire face, press lightly with finger tips to set in place and relax for 15 minute allowing the essence nourish your skin. Ideal for use at night, once the fabric mask is removed the concentrated formula works beneath the skin to continuously hydrate whilst you sleep.”

What the packaging says:

Use after cleansing, open pack, take out mask and unfold.
Gently stretch the mask leftwards and rightward to cover your entire face.
Press lightly with fingertips to set in place over face. Relax for 15mins and remove mask. Manage remaining maskhydrating essence on face. There is no need to rinse off the essence. Discard the sheet after use. Ideal for use at night.

New Information:

  • Application: This week I didn’t care so much about getting the mask smooth on my face, I didn’t care if it was wrinkled, I just wanted to make sure that there was no air pockets like last time.
  • Dry Time: This time I slept with it on. Which turned out better than I thought.
  • 5 mins in: When you first apply this, its so cold, so that kind of woke me up a bit, but after a few minutes, its room temperature because of your body heat. It feels refreshing.
  • 10 mins in: Because I’m laying down, the strip between my nose and lip wasn’t such a big issue.
  • Just before removal: So I slept with it on for approx 7 hours and it actually went really well, I thought it’d fall off in the night and I’d end up with a soggy pillow, but that wasn’t the case! Because the gel and the fabric work well together it is the right amount of ‘sticky’ and it didn’t slide around my face at all!
  • Removal process: Super easy!
  • Instant results: My skin felt so supple. A good kind of squidgy? I could feel the moisture being sucked in by my dry skin. It was a nice way to wake up with nice fresh skin.
  • 10 mins after: I was running late this morning so I went straight into my skincare and makeup routine. Makeup applied really nicely over the fresh skin.
  • Next morning: N/A
  • Visible change: It seemed to counteract some redness and obviously my dry patches weren’t so bad.

This mask contains 6x more hyaluronic acid (the moisture stuff) than the hydro-boost serum. (which I also own) so I’m pretty keen on getting some supple skin!

DSCN3400

I’d just applied the mask here, and as you can see there are air pockets around the eye area and bridge of the nose. This is something that I wanted to try and stop. So I re arranged it. I also thing it looks better when the eye cut outs are a big bigger. There is something just super creepy about this top image – I think its the lack of brows.. and expression. Just super creepy.

DSCN3401

Here I’ve re-arranged the mask so theres less air pockets. It looks less creepy too. Shout out to my main man Thomas (the seal in the background) for making an appearance in todays blog post!

DSCN3403

Here I am with my trusty cat pillow ready for a good nights sleep! I made sure to leave a little bit extra space around my nose – I was a little worried of suffocating – spoiler alert, I’m alive!

The only down side I can see to sleeping with it on, is I don’t know when to do my night time skin care – usually I do it before bed, but I didn’t want to interrupt the mask. I think next time I’ll just have to take a nap with it on. Ahh, the things I do for the blog!

Thank you so much for reading! Don’t forget:

Monthly #InstaThrowBack – April

April! The month, not the girls name. Its been and gone! Here’s a little recap of what I’ve been up to.

I enjoy doing posts like this instead of a standard ‘Monthly Favourites’ post. I feel like theres less pressure to love products and hype them up without fully testing them. And this way, you get to have a little sneaky peaky (not that sneaky, its posted all online anyway) into my life.

Personal/Blog Account: @ProcrastiCaitlan

Screen Shot 2016-05-13 at 11.01.40 AM

In a sense, April was almost a business-esque month for me. Things with my job kicked it up a notch and things in my blogging life have started to expand. I posted a new YouTube video this month and it honestly felt so good to get back into that. I just wish I had the time to keep it up. Three blog posts a week, plus the numerous instagram accounts I manage is quite time consuming, when topped off with full time uni and part time work.

April held the date for a Yelp event all about my city! Loving the South Australian / Adelaide produce. The RADelaide Love Affaire was so much fun to attend. I got to go with my two best babes and we had just a fun night out exploring SA’s finest.

I began to work with a company this month too. I’m still a very small person in this world wide web but I am happy to be working with them. Keep an eye out for some posts coming up about the company and their products. I’ve already mentioned it in a post and its here in some insta snaps too. Kismet Jardin. I look forward to showing you their stuff!

Lastly for my personal side of life, it was mothers day. I had a heap of gift guide posts up for you guys, if you were stuck with what to spoil your mum with. I went home to my little home town to spend the day with my mum. It was really nice and good to visit home again.

Beauty Account: @Lust_At_First_Swatch

I’ve been trying to up my instal-game for a while now and I think I’m finally figuring out something that works for me. My biggest issue is that I don’t want to do the same as everyone else – be it lay out or content – which is hard. On my beauty instagram I toyed with a theme idea, but mostly I tried taking photos that were still pretty and practical but a little bit different and I really like how they turned out.

You’ll notice too that I cut my hair – a very big decision / spur of the moment thing for me. I’m loving it, but I still miss my long (long long long long) hair. I god a fair few re-posts from some companies that I love, in April. Which made me super happy. I’m glad my content is getting recognised and shared.

Makeup wise, I’ve been enjoying taking shots of my eye makeup (like the first picture in this set) and posting them. Getting shots of eye makeup is SO TRICKY! The lighting, the angles, making sure it looks the same as it does in real life! PSH too hard! But I’m trying, so keep and eye out for some pics like that – if thats your thing.

And this has been my monthly recap / #InstaThrowBack. What did you guys get up in in April? I’d love to know, it can be anything you did, or a product that you got or just proud of a selfie! (I know I am), I’d love to check out your links.

Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget:

Mask of the Month: BE Peel-Off Facial Mask Week 2 Review

Time for week two! I’ve had the worst cold this week and honestly didn’t feel like putting anything on my face, but I’m trying to be dedicated with these posts. I used the same mask again this week, even though I had a less than enjoyable experience last week, but I’m determined to try and get this to work!

The lowdown:

  • Price: $5.99 Priceline
  • Target/Aim: ‘…to remove dead skin cells from the skin and unclog pores’
  • Skin Type: Doesn’t specify.
  • Smell: There isn’t really a smell, although it does kind of smell like glue. The scent is meant to be ‘pomegranate’ but I don’t smell it at all.
  • Texture: Thick, sticky, smooth. It reminds me of the hot wax when I get my brows done. Obviously, this product isn’t hot.
  • Colour: Bright Pink!
  • Directions: “Cleanse face with your favourite BE Cleanser, and dry in preparation for the mask. Apply a thin, even layer of the mask to yourface and neck, avoiding the delicate eye area, lips and hair. Leave the mask on to dry for around 15 minutes or until completely dry. Once dry gently peel away the mask from the face. Do not pull away quickly. Wash off any remaining pieces of the mask with warm water. Pat face and neck dry. Use once weekly or as required.”
  • Application: I used my fingers to apply this, I think it is far too sticky to be used by a brush. Perhaps a small popsicle stick applicator would be better here. I applied the mask in a different area this week as last week was so painful to remove. I aimed for cheeks and forehead and across the T-zone. Keeping away from any peach fuzz baby hair areas.
  • Dry Time: Anywhere from 5-15 minutes
  • 5 mins in: As mask begins to set my skin feels tight, no irritation.
  • 10 mins in: Almost fully set, still no irritation.
  • Just before removal: When the mask is fully dry/set it looks shiney and kind of feels like wrinkly skin.
  • Removal process: I didn’t have the agonising experience as last week, however it still hurt a little in the top corners of the mask where the edges met my skin. The chin and nose area didn’t hurt much, because I’m used to doing pore strips/the skin is a little more resilient in those areas.
  • Instant results: There was still some redness, around my eyebrow area.
  • 10 mins after: No real lingering redness like last week. No irritation.
  • Next morning: My skin felt soft-ish, nothing to write home about. The only reason I feel like it does anything is because it basically rips your dead skin off. I can achieve that kind of result from exfoliating – and there is way less pain in that.
  • Visible change: Slightly fresher looking skin.

What the packaging says:

“A refreshing Peel-Off Facial Mask which works to remove dead skin cells from the skin’s surface and unclog pores to reveal a freshand radiant complexion. Includes Pomegranate extract, known for its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and for fighting free radicals in the skin, and Vitamin E for its soothing and smoothing effects.”

1

This week I left more space around the edge of my hairline and I didn’t join the mask all the way up. The areas I left free are the ones that hurt the most last week and I wasn’t doing that to myself again. This week it was still a little painful to remove.

2

Starting the removal process from the ‘inside – out’ works better I think. I begin to flick the edges around my mouth and nose first and peel the mask away.

3

The mask itself is quite heavy duty. It takes a lot for it to actually rip. So taking it off can be in one whole piece or two. It makes cleaning up easier. However the little parts that stay stuck on your face are annoying to remove, you can either peel them off or wash them off with warm water. Putting warm water on your face after this mask is a little uncomfortable so peeling would work better, but they’re kind of hard to get off so your either giving yourself more pain or waiting around with pink on your face.

Because the mask is so sturdy, next week I will be using it as a pore strip and see how that goes.

Pro Tips: Do not put this anywhere near hair lines. I am hesitant to use it again. I think this time I will only focus it in the centre of my face and not in any ‘peach fuzzy’ areas.

Do you have this mask? Do you know how to make it work? I’d love to hear your experiences.

Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget:

Top makeup tips for when you’re sick

Obviously no one likes being sick, but unfortunately its going to happen. As my luck would have it, day one of my uni ‘holidays’ started out with me coming down with the most horrid version of the ‘common cold’. Now usually I’d just let it run its course (for me, its a two week minimum of aches, pains and phlegm – beautiful, I know) but I have a heap of stuff to do during this study break including birthdays, events and even a wedding so I had to look better than I felt at the time. I’m here to share with you some basic tips and tricks about how to wear makeup when you’re sick.

For me, the least amount of product on my skin, the better I feel. I try to keep makeup simple and if possible away from the three danger zones of sickness – lips, nose and eyes.

My eyes are a watery mess when I’m sick so a lack of makeup is fantastic, I can’t recommend waterproof liner and mascara enough! If you are going to go with some shadows I suggest a really blown out smokey look (doesn’t have to be black). The more diffused the colour is, the less obvious it will be that you’ve wiped some away with the tears coming from your eyes from coughing so much. (you think I’m kidding?)

The only time my lips get chapped is when I’m sick. I find myself doing a lot of mouth breathing (*cringe) because my sinuses are more congested the peak hour traffic in the city. My lips split, and crack and its just a painful ordeal. I never use a matte lipstick when my lips are bad like this. Its just adding salt to the wound. I tend to go with a balm (chapstick is your friend) or a gloss – the only time I opt for gloss is when I’m sick. Its low maintenance and it helps the lips. YES! If I’m going somewhere that requires lippy, I opt for a cream finish. Rimmel London – Moisture Renew lipstick line is fantastic.

Having a runny nose is annoying at the best of times, but having to wear makeup AND having a runny nose is just adding insult to injury. My tip for this is to blow your nose like theres no tomorrow before doing your makeup – sounds obvious but seriously, do it. Pretend you’ve got the trumpet solo in the jazz band and blow that horn, honey! When you’re ready to apply makeup you’ve got a few options: Just a powder, if you don’t NEED full coverage then don’t bother with it, Liquid foundation – Put it over your face as per usual, but when you get to the nose (nostril area) blend it out so there isn’t much there. If its lightly applied on purpose and it looks fine, it won’t look stupid when you’ve more than most likely rubbed at it with tissues. Instead of looking like Rudolf you look a little rosey, Concealer – if you don’t want foundation, but want coverage, just use concealer, blend it out so it doesn’t look too patchy and go from there – depends on what ‘event’ you’re wearing the makeup for.

This is the before and after. I wasn’t going anywhere that I needed full coverage – just nipping out to lunch with a gal pal and doing a bit of shopping.

No eye shadow. Waterproof mascara, liquid liner in brown – not black. Defined brows. Glossy lips. Concealer and powder – no liquid foundation.

Something else that I like to do, I like to rub some ‘vaporising ointment’ Vicks VapoRub. just under my nose – only a small amount. Just so it keeps my nose somewhat usable. A small amount shouldn’t be detectable by others – just mask with with perfume!

It is important to put colour back into your skin. You might think blush isn’t needed but you can become quite washed out when you’re sick so adding in a little flush of colour to the cheeks can really help make you look like you’ve got a pulse and not an extra for ‘The Walking Dead’.

As it turns out, I had an event that I had RSVP’d to so I needed to turn that basic makeup into a bit more of a glam situation. I kept to the same rules. Even though I am wearing more makeup than before, its still light on my nose, I’ve primed my lips with balm all day so wearing a ‘matt-er’ lip isn’t such an issue. Adding blush to bring colour back to my cheeks, adding highlighter to bring some ‘natural glow’. With all these little things, I don’t really look sick at all! Despite feeling like I was dying and coughing so loud I sound like a baby seal…

The term ‘fake it, ’till you make it’ applies here. If you pretend you’re well, and smile and try your hardest, it will show through. Even if you sound like a ‘pack-a-day’ smoker. (me).

Don’t forget that wherever you go you always take a mini pack of tissues, lozenges, cold and flu meds and lip balm!

Do you have any makeup tips for when you’re sick? Or just any tips on how to survive sickness I’d love to know! I can’t wait to kick this cold to the curb!

Monthly Masks!

OK-Because-She-MacGyver-Facial-Disguises

I’m so excited to be starting up a series on my blog for you guys! As you might have guessed from the title, I’ll be reviewing a mask (face mask or maybe a hair mask – oh the possibilities). There will be a range of different types of masks and hopefully some that everyone can enjoy! I have a list of some that I’ll be reviewing but if you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments!

I don’t have a strict skincare regime but I must say a face mask once or twice a week has become my little secret to fresh looking and feeling skin. But we’ll just keep that our little secret, yeah?

TheMask

Like I said there will be a range of different masks that I’ll be trying out and they will be at a lot of different price points. Hopefully whilst I’m on my mask hunt I’ll find some cheaper alternatives to some higher end masks for you! I really am so excited! I’ve got a range of different types all ready to go that range from: clay, charcoal, sheet mask and even some peel masks, I’ve also got some classic creamy masks and some good DIY masks for you to try out, too!

I’ll be starting the series with the newly risen to fame cult classic ‘SWISSE Manuka Honey Detoxifying Facial Mask’. There has been a lot of buzz about this product in particular and I thought It’d be a great spot to start off!

As I have dry skin, I’ll be trialling masks that are more suited towards that and also masks for ‘all skin types’ but I’ll also be doing a few cult classic masks that are more suited to oily skin to see if there are any side effects to dry skin gals/guys using them.

Thank you so much for reading, if you have any mask suggestions leave me a comment, and don’t forget:

Beauty Storage #1 – Bathroom

It seems like storage and storage Ideas are the new thing to become obsessed with, and well, I can see why. I like to have things organised or at the very least have a place for everything. I’ll be starting a little ‘series’ of blog posts dedicated to how I keep my stuff stored and organised and kind of looking presentable.

I’ve only recently started getting into ‘bathroom storage’ and to be honest storage is a loose term. I used to keep everything on the bathroom vanity just to sit there, however, when my collection grew a bit I decided I needed something to keep it all in.

The only thing I keep in the bathroom is skincare items, I don’t keep makeup in there anymore. Because bathrooms are usually a damp place it is ideal for growing bacteria and I didn’t want to be putting a dirty brush on my face. Also, my bathroom is quite small so I can’t store my entire collection there anyway!

So up until quite recently, I’d have everything from shower gel, body butter and tanning products to cleanser, exfoliators and face masks placed in the corner of my bathroom counter top. Its not a very large space nor is it anything that I class as appealing. (Unfortunately the bathroom is the last room that will be renovated) There is no reason or rhyme to it except taller things at the back and shorter things at the front. I’d come up with the idea that I wanted some kind of shelving system with at least two tiers to hold all the products that call the space home. It wasn’t until I was looking at the Ikea website that I stumbled upon this pretty little thing and thought that it would be perfect for storing my muddled bunch of bathroom bits (or if that didn’t work perhaps storing my perfume on it instead) or you know, now I’ve got a lovely cupcake server.

I got home and instantly assembled the iconic flat pack doohickey, and set it up in my bathroom. I think it is a good starting point for what I want to do and as I said, if it doesn’t work for this, I’ve got a few ideas for other uses so it won’t come to waste.

This is the ‘Before’ picture. As you can see, its all just placed there willy nilly. Theres a mix between body butters and face masks and makeup remover and self tanner. Mainly its just clutter and until I renovate the bathroom there isn’t really much I can do as far as permanent shelving etc goes.

This is the ‘After’ shot. It’s a lot neater and looks to be more organised. On the bottom tear I’ve got body butters, and masks and anything else in ‘tub’ packaging. Up top I’ve got squeeze packaged items. More masks, shower gel and moisturisers. To the side of got some skincare and the other side is makeup remover and cotton rounds.

bb

As you can see, I have a heap of body shop stuff and a heap of masks. I’m planning a really in-depth mask review system to start up on my blog very soon, and as for The Body Shop? I love their products, the blueberry range and peach range are some of my favourite scents but also the ones hardest to get ahold of. So sad. I’ve also got a fair bit of ‘Oh Deer Sugar’ products (you guys should know I love them by now) that I’m loving.

Its still not perfect or how I’d like to keep it, but its definitely an improvement. I can’t wait until I renovate the bathroom, I want floor to ceiling tiles and lots of built in shelving! But thats a dream for another time!

What do you keep stored in your bathroom and how is it stored, do you have it presented or put away in cupboards? I’d love to know!

Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget:

Getting the chop?

It’s come to my attention that every so often (every 10 or so years per se) I get bored with my long (long, long, long) hair and get it chopped off! The first (and only other time) I did this I was in high school and went from about 28″ to 10″ and absolutely loved it.

hair in inchesI saved my mother a tonne in shampoo and conditioner money and was able to do styles I’d never done before. So I think its about time I get it done again. HOWEVER I don’t trust anyone with my hair haha. Story of my life, right?

So this is where my hair is currently:

img_0015
Excuse the Mirror selfie

Because its all pulled to one side it looks a little bit shorter than it actually is but you get the idea!

And this is what I’m wanting to get done.

I am loving this ‘long’ bob/medium length textured style of hair. Lots of texture and layers with a blunt cut. Hopefully by chopping off half of my hair it’ll be nice and healthy once again. (2 and a half years of bleaching it can’t be great, am I right?) I really like the look of the balayage highlights etc put through it, I’m not sure if I’ll get it all done in one sitting, because A) time and B) money. But we’ll see! It really isn’t that much hair gone, but it will feel like I’m bald, I’m sure. I feel that way after a little trim!

Hopefully by me putting it in writing and out on the internet it’ll persuade me to actually get it done! So, wish me luck?

Any long haired ladies out there who’ve gotten the chop? I’d love to know your feelings about it!

Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget:

Valentines Makeup Look

Valentines Day is just around the corner and while this is a reason to get dressed up for date night or a day to just stay in. Its still just a day and here is a makeup look you can wear. I wanted to keep this post light hearted while still delivering a little tutorial.

The look itself is super simple I used Inglot shadows and an Australis cream shadow and thats it! vdayface

Magenta and baby pink mixed with some lovely lashes and a magenta lip! This might be dramatic to some, but makeup has no rules if you’ve got confidence! This look is perfect for date night, going to the movies, vacuuming the house, collecting the mail, drinking wine. The options are limitless!

vdayflatlat

I used Inglot: 357 through the crease to give it some depth. 613 to smoke out the crease and add colour. Australis Metallix eyeshadow in: ‘Guns and Rose Petals’ for the intense shimmer. Inglot: 31 pressed onto the inner corner to set the cream shadow and 30 as a brow highlight.

Lash Sensational mascara by Maybelline for a quick coat before the 149 Exaggerate lashes by Eyelure.

Savvy blush in ‘Plum’.

Australis Velourlips in ‘Shang-hii’ for the lips! Its a matte lippy so its perfect for a bit of a kiss here and there. Also won’t come off if you’re eating a microwave meal and you’re onto your second glass (bottle) of wine. (;

I hope you like this look, regardless of the day. I can’t wait to smother myself in 613 eyeshadow when its Autumn – not long now!

Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget:

2 for 1 eye look!

I’m pretty sure we all have what we call our ‘go to’ make up look. Something simple but striking that we know we can 100% ace when we’re in a rush and need a little pretty pick-me-up or when we over indulged on our beauty sleep and need to get ready in 10 actual minutes.

My go to look is a simple gold/brown smokey eye. It can be toned up or down depending on the occasion. I used my Stila eyes are the window – Soul palette.

709acec93a6a90d74a81974c37134207

The eye look as I said is so simple. Follow the pictorial above to get the look! So many palettes come with shades like this, I reach for my Stila palette, Naked palette and also the Chi Chi Nudes palette.

EverydayLook

For the first look I used a nude lip colour. This is one if the Maybelline color drama lip pencils in the shade ‘Nude Perfection’ I think the nude colour gives the look a “sweet and innocent” vibe, especially in contrast to the purple. It is quite a peachy nude, I would like to maybe use a cooler toned grey nude (or even just a grey) to match the outer corner eyelid shade.
purple

For the ‘second’ look, I added some lashes and changed out the lip colour for this bright bold purple! Its one of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lips in the shade ‘I’m Royalty’ I LOVE this shade (I love purple lipstick) and I think it works really well with this look. Not to mention going great with brown eyes. I felt more like myself with the purple lip. I felt more confident and it shows when you see the two ‘looks’ compared with one another in the next photoset. I look happier and more confident.

I also showed a photo with my glasses on, to prove that A) The eye look can be for anything, work, uni, looking good with glasses and B) If you’re a wearer of glasses, use them to enhance your face and your makeup! I’ll be doing a few ‘Makeup for glasses wearers’ posts in the future!

BEFOREAFTER

As I said above, you can tell that I feel more confident (werk it) with the bold lip. But that just proves (to me) that one should embrace their makeup, and use it to enhance themselves not to use it as a mask.

Its amazing what a pair of lashes and a different lip colour can do! It also goes to show that when you’ve got confidence it really shines through, and that is what I think is most important!  I love purple lipstick, especially with brown eyes, it gives me a cadbury chocolate vibe that I don’t even hate!

My First Blogger Event! LUSH MARION

NEW Marion LUSH Store!

I would like to say, THANK you to the Marion LUSH store for this awesome opportunity, you guys are great and I hope more things like this happen in the future!

LUSH has opened a new store in the Westfield at Marion (Adelaide, SA) and I was lucky enough to get a look! On Friday the 14th of August, myself and a number of other Adelaide beauty bloggers were invited to an after hours blogger event. The only other Lush store in South Australia is the one in Adelaide City itself so it was high time to get a new one! To be honest, I buy the majority of my Lush products online, simply because the city store is ALWAYS packed. The new Marion store is around the same size, if not maybe a little smaller, however they’ve used the space to their advantage. The space has quite high ceilings and the shelves almost reach the top; this is optimal for storage and also a good display of products. BATHBOMBS AND SOAP AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE!

As far as actual product displays I think they’ve done a pretty good job, this is pretty standard of LUSH, they always have gorgeous displays. I love the look of the wooden shelving and cupboards. Its earthy and natural looking which is totally ‘Lush’. The use of the glass bowls for displays make it seem like the products are floating, there is nothing blocking views or stealing the focus from the products. I think that if the containers weren’t transparent the store would feel a lot more crowded. Smart thinking Lush!

As this was an event, there was some food provided. All the food was vegan, which I am not, but I eat a lot of vegan/vegetarian meals and I’m not gonna say no to free nibbles! The food was delicious, there was some kind of pumpkin/curry puff. I miss it just thinking about it.

The structure of the event was really easy and natural, and it was so enjoyable. I was there with my bestie and fellow beauty blogger Sarah, aka Pastelsparkes and we went roaming around together. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by one of the nicest people on the planet. Her name is Casey and we just started chatting like we’ve known each other for years! All of the employees at the Marion Lush store were SUPER NICE! I feel like we’re all best buds now. We were officially welcomed by Kanya – the PR coordinator; Another super nice human being! She gave a little speech and told us all about the company of Lush and I took away so much information about the company that I didn’t know. I had no idea how charitable and environmentally friendly they were! Its amazing! After the speech we were notified of three ‘stations’ around the store. The first was a product creation demonstration, the second was all about the charity pot and the third was demonstrating the massage bars!

Sarah and I first went to the station all about the Charity Pot. We got to sample the product and we were told everything about the grass roots charities that Lush supports. All the money from sales of a charity pot go to the certain charity. I thought that was really cool. The left most image from the picture above, you can see the charity pots and the scarves that are the ‘Knot Wraps’. We were shown how to tie them a few different ways. The knot wraps are something that I love the idea of and if I ever buy a Lush gift for someone, I’ll get them wrapped in the knot wrap.

The second station we went to was the massage bar demonstration. The person giving the demonstration was Casey, the girl we first talked to when we walked in. She offered each one in the group a selection of massage bars and we were all shown how to use them. You can see the demonstration in the top right corner of the image above. The massage bars are such a great idea and by the looks of it, something that will last a long time. The product melts into your hands with your body heat and thats all you really need for a section at a time. I would like to explore the range a bit and find one that I love so I can always use it!

The third station was the product creation demonstration, but because this was our last stop, we missed the demo, but also because it was our last stop, we had the rest of the time to talk to the girl who did the demonstration about what she’d made. Her name was Akira and she was so lovely, she showed us step by step how to make the ‘Angles on Bare Skin Cleanser’ and also told us all about the fresh ingredients etc that go into the product. She was also nice enough to give Sarah and I each a hair consultation. When I found out that I would be going to Lush, I knew I wanted to pick up some hair care items. We chatted for about half an hour about products specific to our hair type, the hair care products that lush has to offer and things that she personally recommends. I didn’t feel like I was being sucked into a sales pitch at all and I was so happy with her suggestions. It was at this point that Kanya came around and told us we could pick out an item from the store that we could take home with us. After the amazing hair talk with Akira, I knew I was bringing home something from that, she recommended the Rehab Shampoo and said for me to get the biggest bottle because it was a gift. I didn’t even think about that, I was going to grab the small one because that is the one she was showing us in the demonstration. I also picked up the Retread Conditioner and paid for that with my own money. I look forward to trying them out and I’m sure I’ll do a review once I’ve used the products up.

Along with the free product of our choice, we were also given a little goodie bag full of samples that I cant wait to try, including the Angles on Bare Skin Cleanser that was made in store that night.

The free gift (rehab) and the conditioner I purchased (retread) and the goodies we got to take home.

I would like to thank everyone at the Lush store Marion for being so wonderful and informative, especially Akira, Casey and Pamela! ❤ An extreme special thanks goes out to Kanya for running the event.

Honestly, this was such a great night and because of this I’m sure I’ll be shopping at Lush and referring my friends to Lush for ever now!

Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget:
