Neutrogena Hydro-Boost Range

Y’all should know by now that I’ve got dry skin all day every day, I’m a desert. With the cold weather now in full swing my already dry skin is becoming dehydrated (yay) so I’ve had to up the moisture intake to my epidermis. If you’ve got dry skin like me, or finding your skin is drying out due to the weather conditions and need some extra moisture, this post is for you!

Now, I’ve talked about these products in hauls and some got their own dedicated posts, but today I’m here to talk about my love for the Neutrogena Hydro-Boost range. The range consists of:¬†Hydro Boost Mask 5 pack,¬†Hydro Boost Water Gel (daily moisturiser),¬†Hydro Boost Night Concentrate,¬†Hydro Boost Eye Roll-On,¬†Hydro Boost Moisturising Foaming Cleanser and¬†Hydro Boost Water Gel SPF. It has come to my attention there is also a daily serum I don’t have that but its on my “get it now, get it now” shopping list. So today I’m going to talk about everything else.

daytimenighttime

When I use these products I try to use them day and night for at least a whole week before changing up my skincare again.

Hydro-Boost Skincare Routine

Morning:
CleanseDSCN3457

Hydro Boost: Moisturising Foaming Cleanser $14.99 Priceline.

Every morning I cleanse my face, its important to do this so you’re not layering makeup on top of a dirty face trapping in germs and nasties that can cause breakouts. The Hydro Boost cleanser is a foaming cleanser and unlike other cleansers in this form, it doesn’t leave my skin dry (it would be pretty redundant if it did).

DSCN3459

Someones a happy cleansing chappy. Usually I would do this step in the shower or over a basin, but today I do it for the blog! I work the cleanser into my skin using circular motions. I spend extra time focusing on the areas around my nose and jawline – ear area. I find this area gets neglected and can sometimes have a buildup of makeup. This product feels so silky in the skin and once rinsed off my face feels clean without feeling stripped of anything important.

ToneDSCN3461

Because there is no toner in the range, I thought I’d mention the one I use when I’m using this skincare. It is another Neutrogena product, I figure they’re the same brand so they should work well together. I switch between these two toners. I use the Pore Refining toner for when I’m having a more hardcore skincare regime. But when I’m using the Hydro Boost range, I use the alcohol-free toner. It doesn’t strip the moisturiser I’ve put into my skin.

DSCN3462

I use a toner soaked cotton round and gently wipe it over my face. Focusing on areas where my pores are the largest.

Eye CreamDSCN3464.JPG

Hydro Boost Eye Roll-On $19.99 Priceline

This squidgy tube has a metal ball that rolls around and spreads the product under the eye. Because the ball is cold, it works really well at soothing the puffiness that happens in the morning around the eyes. You can also use cold spoons to reduce redness and morning eye puff. To start with I didn’t think this product really did anything, but it actually makes me look more awake. The actual product itself is really nice and it helps greatly to moisturise my under eye area, which in turn makes makeup look so much nicer. It doesn’t take long for the cream to set and it works well underneath other products.

SPFDSCN3467

Hydro Boost Water Gel SPF $24.99 Priceline

SPF is something I’ve only recently been trying to incorporate into my skincare routine. It may not seem like such a big deal because we’re coming into winter now, but being in Australia with a high UV rating year round. You can never be too careful when it comes to protecting your skin. This is quite a thick product but blends into skin very easy.

MoisturiseDSCN3471

Hydro Boost Water Gel (daily moisturiser) 24.99 Priceline

I’ve talked about this product before and I still feel the same way. It gives my skin hydration without weighing it down and if used daily adds radiance and glow to the skin and makes it super soft to the touch. It has a fresh scent that reminds me of cherry medicine. The fragrance has never made me break out. Letting this product sink into the skin makes for such a smooth makeup application.

DSCN3469

This is the last step in my daily routine. I pat all the products into my face and then let them soak into my skin for about 10 minutes. This is a good time to have breakfast, brush teeth, or just sit in your towel from having a shower (I have done this on many occasion). I find that the products don’t linger on the skin or form a greasy film. They add a layer of protection between makeup and bare skin. I find that makeup applies really well and because of all the prep my skin has just gotten, I can wear more ‘matte’ finish products and powder my face to set things without the fear of anything clinging to my dry patches (basically my whole face.

MakeupDSCN3451

Don’t mind the goofy face. I find that because the skin is so drenched in moisturising products, it gives my face a ‘healthy glow from within’ finish. Products blend so effortlessly into my skin once I put in the prep work!

Night
Makeup Removal
DSCN3450

After a full day of makeup wear, my face is looking a bit less cute. My lipstick is basically gone and my eyeliner is starting to wear away and its just time to take it off. I always go over my face first with a makeup removing face wipe. I know that these aren’t going to remove all of the makeup, but for me its a good first step.

DSCN3455

I then go in with micellar water and cotton rounds. I’m currently using my favourite micellar water by Garnier. I love this so much. It doesn’t irritate my skin or eyes, doesn’t dry me out and it takes away basically all remaining makeup deep in my pores and brows, effortlessly!

I then cleanse and tone just like in the morning routine, but instead of the other steps, I use different products.

MaskDSCN3473

Hydro Boost Mask 5 Pack 19.99 Priceline

I’ve just finished reviewing this mask and I really like it. I use these once a week or whenever I need an extreme dose of hyaluronic acid. (SO GOOD FOR HYDRATION)

DSCN3401

These are sheet masks with 6x the hyaluronic acid than the moisturisers. So its gives a good old boost of hydration. They can look a bit scary though. Read about the masks here

MoisturiseDSCN3472

Hydro Boost Night Concentrate 24.99 Priceline

If I was only able to purchase one product from the collection, I think it’d have to be this one. I’ve used it with other skincare and obviously in conjunction with the rest of the Hydro Boost range and I love it. This is my favourite night cream for super hydration!¬†Using this cream at night makes my skin feel so soft and supple in the morning. I think its really important to keep up hydration while you sleep. Its like fixing your skin while you’re doing nothing. WINNER!

DSCN3475

I always make sure to blend everything down my neck. Even if I’m not putting makeup all the way down my neck, I think keeping your entire face and d√©colletage area well hydrated is super important. Especially if you’re prone to dry skin, and to maybe prevent premature ageing.

Mask of the Month: Neutrogena Hydro-Boost Final Review.

I’ve decided since I have nothing bad to say about this mask, this will be my final review and I’ll have some related posts coming up for the remainder of the month! Exciting – I know.

The lowdown:

  • Price: $19.99¬†Priceline,¬†Woolworths, $15.99 at¬†Chemist Warehouse, $22.00¬†Coles¬†($14.00 sale price). Pack contains 5 masks – approx $4.00 per mask.
  • Target/Aim: ‘… to¬†provide long lasting moisture to help skin look hydrated, radiant and glowing’
  • Skin Type: Suited for¬†Dry Skin¬†but aimed at any skin that needs moisture.
  • Smell:¬†The smell is somewhat like cherry medicine scent – like the rest of the Hydro Boost range. It doesn’t linger nor do I find it unpleasant.
  • Texture:¬†Each is a stretchy cloth mask that feels slippery and like gel.
  • Colour: White and the gel is clear.
  • Directions:¬†“To use, remove mask and unfold gently stretching the fabric cloth to cover your entire face, press lightly with finger tips to set in place and relax for 15 minute allowing the essence nourish your skin. Ideal for use at night, once the fabric mask is removed the concentrated formula works beneath the skin to continuously hydrate whilst you sleep.”

What the packaging says:

Use after cleansing, open pack, take out mask and unfold.
Gently stretch the mask leftwards and rightward to cover your entire face.
Press lightly with fingertips to set in place over face. Relax for 15mins and remove mask. Manage remaining maskhydrating essence on face. There is no need to rinse off the essence. Discard the sheet after use. Ideal for use at night.

New Information:

  • Application:¬†I’m getting better at applying it now. I’m not being so delicate with it and I’m really impressed at how it hasn’t ripped.
  • Dry Time:¬†I kept this mask on for 20 – 25 minutes
  • 5 mins in:¬†Still haven’t gotten used to the cold shock of when I apply it. But because I was just relaxing playing xbox and not really moving my mouth etc around much, I didn’t have an issue with the moustache strip becoming loose.
  • 10 mins in:¬†Still nice and stuck to my face!
  • Just before removal:¬†Once I felt like I’d had enough of the mask, I simply peeled it off. Easy Peasy!
  • Removal process:¬†Easy Peasy!
  • Instant results:¬†My skin felt super nice and squidgy, like always.
  • 10 mins after:¬†I wanted to see how well this mask worked with other products so I used the night cream from the Hydro Boost line with this mask. It felt so good!
  • Next morning:¬†I think because I used the night cream as well, my skin was just in hydro heaven.
  • Visible change:¬†Skin is very supple. No dry areas.

DSCN3419

I’m becoming desensitised by the freaky-ness of this mask. I really love the Hydro-Boost sheet masks. Used in conjunction with the other products from this line I can see that my skin will just love me for it.

I used the night and day moisturiser this time with the mask and can’t wait to do a review of all the products at once! They’re perfect for people with dry skin or just anyone who needs a moisture boost! With winter coming up I think a moisturising mask once a week can really improve things!

I’ll be doing a full review on the range soon!

Tonight I played some xbox with my partner. We played a few games – it was really fun. One in particular called ‘Cactus’ that I really liked. It reminds me of ‘Hero’s Duty’ from Wreck it Ralf mixed with ‘Sugar Rush’ also from WiR. The characters are all super cute girls with guns and its a basic top down shooter game. I think I might do a review of it. So keep an eye out for that in the future if you’re interested.

Here are a few photos from the game. Its really fun and easy to play for someone who might not be as experienced.

Mask of the Month: Neutrogena Hydro-boost week 2 review

Back at it again with the white face mask! This time I slept with it on! keep reading to see my results. This is such a fun mask! Such little effort but such good results!

  • Application:¬†This week I didn’t care so much about getting the mask smooth on my face, I didn’t care if it was wrinkled, I just wanted to make sure that there was no air pockets like last time.
  • Dry Time:¬†This time I slept with it on. Which turned out better than I thought.
  • 5 mins in:¬†When you first apply this, its so cold, so that kind of woke me up a bit, but after a few minutes, its room temperature because of your body heat. It feels refreshing.
  • 10 mins in:¬†Because I’m laying down, the strip between my nose and lip wasn’t such a big issue.
  • Just before removal:¬†So I slept with it on for approx 7 hours and it actually went really well, I thought it’d fall off in the night and I’d end up with a soggy pillow, but that wasn’t the case! Because the gel and the fabric work well together it is the right amount of ‘sticky’ and it didn’t slide around my face at all!
  • Removal process:¬†Super easy!
  • Instant results:¬†My skin felt so supple. A good kind of squidgy? I could feel the moisture being sucked in by my dry skin. It was a nice way to wake up with nice fresh skin.
  • 10 mins after:¬†I was running late this morning so I went straight into my skincare and makeup routine. Makeup applied really nicely over the fresh skin.
  • Next morning:¬†N/A
  • Visible change:¬†It seemed to counteract some redness and obviously my dry patches weren’t so bad.

This mask contains 6x more hyaluronic acid (the moisture stuff) than the hydro-boost serum. (which I also own) so I’m pretty keen on getting some supple skin!

DSCN3400

I’d just applied the mask here, and as you can see there are air pockets around the eye area and bridge of the nose. This is something that I wanted to try and stop. So I re arranged it. I also thing it looks better when the eye cut outs are a big bigger. There is something just super creepy about this top image – I think its the lack of brows.. and expression. Just super creepy.

DSCN3401

Here I’ve re-arranged the mask so theres less air pockets. It looks less creepy too. Shout out to my main man Thomas (the seal in the background) for making an appearance in todays blog post!

DSCN3403

Here I am with my trusty cat pillow ready for a good nights sleep! I made sure to leave a little bit extra space around my nose – I was a little worried of suffocating – spoiler alert, I’m alive!

The only down side I can see to sleeping with it on, is I don’t know when to do my night time skin care – usually I do it before bed, but I didn’t want to interrupt the mask. I think next time I’ll just have to take a nap with it on. Ahh, the things I do for the blog!

Mask Of the Month: Neutrogena Hydro Boost week 1 review

First review of the sheet mask! It is a beautiful mix of scary and ugly when wearing it. Keep that in mind.

  • Application:¬†When removing the mask from the packaging its really slimy and slippery. But easy to peel apart and put on your face. It is however quite cold, so keep that in mind!
  • Dry Time:¬†Recommended to leave the mask on for 15 minutes, I put mine on and watched a movie.
  • 5 mins in:¬†The gel had warmed up to body temp so its not so cold anymore, but it does feel refreshing.
  • 10 mins in:¬†All good. Although, the strip between the nose and the mouth – so the mask moustache keeps falling down onto my lips, its just annoying that I have to keep pressing it on to my face and re-arranging that little section.
  • Just before removal:¬†The mask still has a heap of gel in it. I don’t want to waste it.
  • Removal process:¬†SUPER EASY! How satisfying. Its only taken three months to get a super easy mask. I peeled it off the squeezed out any remaining gel and rubbed it into my d√©colletage and neck. I didn’t want to waste the product. I also massaged the gel on my face into my skin.
  • Instant results:¬†Super refreshed! – The gel sits on your face until you rub it in. It slowly sinks in.
  • 10 mins after:¬†No reaction! Skin feels soft, and a little tacky? but not gross or sticky.
  • Next morning:¬†Still smooth and no reaction. I might try sleeping with the mask on..
  • Visible change:¬†Skin looks refreshed. I did this mask at night before bed.

This mask contains 6x more hyaluronic acid (the moisture stuff) than the hydro-boost serum. (which I also own) so I’m pretty keen on getting some supple skin!

DSCN3361

I tried really hard to get a nice photo. This is the best I could do. The mask has enough give that it can fit most face shapes/sizes. There was excess fabric on mine.

DSCN3362

Its almost impossible to get a smooth application, however it doesn’t change the results. One of the things I’ll have to try for next time is making sure it all touches my skin and doesn’t stretch over it. you can see the ‘air bubbles’ around my eye sockets. Annoying.

DSCN3363

Who doesn’t love a bad skin, bad lighting selfie? This is what the skin looks like when the mask is removed. Fresh and juicy. mmmm.

The gel is super easy to massage into the skin. I think I’m really going to enjoy using these masks once a week.

Do you have experience with sheet masks? or know of any other good hydrating products? I’d love to know!

Mask of the Month: Neutrogena HydroBoost Sheet mask

Time for a new mask! I’m surprised my skin is still in such good condition! After last weeks debacle my skin is need of some nutrients and a little bit of TLC so this month I’ll be focussing on the Neutrogena Hydro Boost – Sheet Masks!

The lowdown:

  • Price: $19.99 Priceline, Woolworths, $15.99 at Chemist Warehouse, $22.00 Coles ($14.00 sale price). Pack contains 5 masks – approx $4.00 per mask.

  • Skin Type: Suited for¬†Dry Skin but aimed at any skin that needs moisture.

Pre Thoughts:

I’m really excited to try this! I’ve been super keen to try a sheet mask. I’m looking forward to using a product aimed at moisture as I do have quite dry skin. I hope this will be a no mess mask as the others have been a little messy.

Have you ever used a sheet mask? I can’t wait! Let me know how you went!

Dry Skin Saviours!

Neutrogena: Hydro Boost.

Like I need another reason to go into Priceline, right? I picked up these two moisturisers that I’ve been eyeing off for a while. I saw the ‘Hydroboost’ range when they first came into Priceline but told myself I had to wait until my bank account was ready. (Yay discipline) I picked up a day cream and a night cream. Those are my favourite products to use as they’re low maintenance! However, there are two other products in the Hydroboost range that were sold out when I was shopping that I’m quite interested in getting. ANYWAY! Lets get to the product and why I like it!

Back Story: I have dry skin. I suffer from the occasional breakout (hormonal or bad food etc, but not a great deal) and some redness but other than that my skin is ok. Its just super dry. I combat this with moisturisers and they’ve been working in the past but I noticed that a lot of my skincare is actually by Neutrogena and I thought why not go pokemon on this and catch them all? So I decided to pick up these!

I love packaging of skin care! Its so cute, but chic and classy. The jars are simple and are really pretty shades of blue. They look lovely on my bathroom vanity. Inside each jar is a plastic cap/protector which I think is nice, it has a little ‘handle’ so you can easily remove it.

Water Gel:¬†This is what I’m using as a ‘daily moisturiser’.

“With innovative Progressive Release System, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel continuously releases moisture for a full 24 hours. Its light-weight gel cream formula with Hyaluronic acid and Olive extract doubles your moisture levels in just 1 hour, for soft supple skin with a healthy looking radiant glow.”

So basically there are a lot of long words in that little passage but that is whats written on the box, but I gotta tell ya, they’re on to something. It also says to ‘apply generously and evenly over the face and neck daily after cleansing.’ So thats what I do. I cleanse my face etc in the morning and then slap a good amount of this on. It soaks into the skin so nicely. It doesn’t feel like there is a film on your face and it doesn’t go sticky or tacky either. I honestly think it does double the moisture in the skin within the first hour and keeps working for a full 24 hours. It brings life back to the skin with a natural, healthy looking ‘glow from within’ vibe.

Night Concentrate: This is what I put on my face right before bed!

“As skin cells renew at night, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Night Concentrate is specially formulated with Progressive Release System to continuously release intense moisture as you sleep. Vitamin E enriched beads combined with Hyraluronic Acid, Olive Extract and Iconic Mineral complex help to enhance skin texture and visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines, so you wake up to amazingly hydrated, soft and supple skin.”

Much like the day gel/cream this has a lot of big words and claims to do a lot. I don’t really have ‘fine lines’ (that I’m aware of, if you see some, don’t point them out, ignorance is bliss) but I do believe this would help with them! Once I put this on of a night time (this also says to apply nightly after cleansing) my skin soaks it up and loves it! It doesn’t feel sticky or anything and it doesn’t wipe off or transfer on to my pillows or anything which I’m happy about. The thing I care about the most is that when I wake up my skin feels so soft, smooth and plump? if thats a good adjective.

The product itself is really nice. The Water Gel (day cream/gel) has a blue look to it but it applies clear. It feels so nice so apply to the face. It feels cooling in a way, I can’t wait until its summer to feel how refreshing this is.

The Night Concentrate is more creamy than the Water Gel, but the feel equally as smooth and nourishing to the skin. The small blue beads in the Night cream aren’t hard at all, (like you’d find in some exfoliators) they melt into the skin without leaving any blue residue.

There is a smell to this product, it smells like faux cherry‚Ķ like the medicine you had as a child or cherry starburst (thats what I think anyway) but it doesn’t linger for long and I don’t mind it so its not even an issue for me.

Both of these are: Dermatologist tested Allergy tested, Oil-free and Non-Comedogenic.

Final Thoughts:¬†I’ve been using these for about a two months now and I’m loving them. I’ve had no reactions, my skin looks radiant, even under makeup – oh and makeup applies so beautifully over the top of the daily gel. The main problem area I had for makeup was my nose and my foundation applies so nicely over the top now. It feels nice to have a ‘dewy/glowy’ look to my skin when usually it was just dry and almost flakey. I think I might even start using ‘Matte Foundations’ and see how my skin looks/feels using the Hydroboost before application!

Thanks for reading! If you have dry skin and dry these products, let me know how you like them, or if you have any suggestions for your fave products leave them in the comments, I’d love to try them!

Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget:
